About Me

My name is Tamar Lok and I am a passionate biologist specialized in the behavior and population dynamics of migratory birds. I obtained my PhD (cum laude) in 2013 and subsequently worked for ten years as a postdoctoral researcher in The Netherlands (University of Groningen and NIOZ) and France (CNRS). I have developed expertise in spoonbills and in statistical analyses of count, ringing, and tracking data to map the survival, distribution, and behavior of birds. With my work, I hope to contribute to a better protection of our environment – an environment where humans and nature live in harmony, which is essential to ensure a healthy and climate-resilient future.
